When I was 18 years old, and had just graduated high school, my life was a wreck. I'd lived in poverty most of my childhood. My parents had divorced when I was 11. I was taking care of a mentally ill mother. I walked to work, and back. I worked as a donut cook. I worked 16-hour days, 6 days a week. I brought in $100 cash under the table each week. Yes, that was my "paycheck."

For those of you wondering, that's $1.54 an hour. For some perspective, keep in mind that Federal Minimum Wage in 1968, was $1.60. My $1.54 was 28 years later, in 1996, when Federal Minimum Wage was $4.75.

I worked that job for 1.5 years. By the time I turned 21, I had $26,000 in credit card debt alone, just from the expenses of taking care of my mentally ill mother. A couple of times a week, I would be walking to or from work, and I would be delivered lovely obscenities and death threats from the redneck neighbor because I'm gay.

Luckily, I am no longer subject to that life - especially in the current political climate.

I have a full-time job. I have successfully fulfilled my dream of writing (and marketing) a book, and I am writing my second. I'm a Priest of Cerridwen, and I Mentor Witches and other Pagans. I run a Coven. I have 4 weeks of vacation a year. I have great health benefits. I have a 401(k). I make more money than I ever have in my life. My credit score is phenomenal, compared to what it used to be. I rent a beautiful house in a quiet neighborhood in the middle of what is probably the largest city in my home state of Kentucky. I have been with my life partner for 13 years. And we are about to buy a house.

Want to know how I did it? What happened? How I managed to make it work? How Witchcraft literally changed my entire existence?
